Abu Dhabi Shuts Down 7 Food Facilities for Violating Food Safety Laws
The Abu Dhabi Agriculture and Food Safety Authority (ADAFSA) has shut down seven restaurants and food facilities in Abu Dhabi during the first quarter of this year. The closures were due to violations of Law No. 2 of 2008 regarding food safety in the emirate, posing a risk to public health.
Strict Food Safety Measures in Abu Dhabi
ADAFSA continues to strengthen food safety regulations through routine inspections and awareness campaigns. In March, food safety inspectors intensified monitoring efforts across Abu Dhabi’s food establishments.
These inspections led to the administrative closure of four food facilities, including three during ADAFSA’s annual Ramadan food safety campaign.
Food Facilities Closed by ADAFSA
The food facilities shut down in Abu Dhabi included:
- A restaurant and a café on Hamdan Street
- A supermarket in Al Khalidiya area
- A supermarket in Musaffah Industrial Area
- A poultry farm in Al Ajban area
- A commercial facility in Al Shahama area
- A grocery store in Musaffah area 9
Ongoing Food Safety Inspections
ADAFSA emphasized that inspection campaigns are carried out before, during, and after Ramadan to ensure compliance with food safety standards. The goal is to protect consumers by ensuring that all food products meet the required health and safety standards.
The food safety authority also focuses on educating restaurant owners, food suppliers, and staff about best practices for food handling and hygiene to maintain high food safety standards.
Public Awareness and Reporting Violations
ADAFSA reassured the public that food safety inspections are conducted regularly. Consumers are encouraged to report any food safety violations by calling the Abu Dhabi Government’s toll-free number: 800555. This allows authorities to take swift action in ensuring safe food for all residents.
Conclusion
The closure of seven food establishments in Abu Dhabi underscores the UAE’s commitment to food safety. Through strict restaurant inspections, food quality monitoring, and public engagement, ADAFSA ensures that food establishments adhere to the highest hygiene standards for consumer safety in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.
