Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has successfully completed a series of key road upgrades in the Business Bay area, significantly improving traffic flow, reducing congestion, and enhancing road safety in one of the city’s busiest mixed-use districts.
These projects are part of Dubai’s strategic plan to expand its urban infrastructure and meet the demands of continuous population growth and development.
The recent improvements include the conversion of a street parallel to Sheikh Zayed Road from a two-lane, two-way configuration into a one-way dual roadway. This modification is expected to double the street’s capacity and reduce traffic conflict points.
To further ease traffic congestion, a 100-metre-long storage lane was added at the intersection of Al Mustaqbal Street and Al Khaleej Al Tejari 1 Street, boosting right-turn capacity towards First Al Khail Street by 50 per cent.
Additionally, the service road parallel to Al Mustaqbal Street near the towers was reorganised with the addition of a new lane, increasing its capacity by approximately 50 per cent and reducing traffic bottlenecks.
The RTA also expanded the entry point to the bridge on Al Mustaqbal Street over the canal, doubling its capacity from one lane to two in the direction of First Al Khail Street. This enhancement is designed to improve vehicle flow and minimise delays during peak hours.
These developments align with Dubai’s ongoing efforts to create a more efficient, accessible, and sustainable road network for residents, businesses, and visitors alike.
