In a significant development for Dubai’s public transport network, the Jebel Ali Metro Station has officially been renamed to National Paints Metro Station following a strategic agreement between the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) and National Paints Factories Co. Ltd., the region’s largest manufacturer of paints and coatings.
The 10-year naming rights deal was announced by Dubai’s Media Office and reflects Dubai’s ongoing efforts to foster innovative partnerships between the public and private sectors, while enhancing the visibility of major brands within the city’s high-traffic transport infrastructure.
Strategic Partnership for Urban Development
The new agreement was signed between National Paints and Hypermedia, with Mada Media acting as the authorised concessionaire under an existing agreement with the RTA. This collaboration falls under the broader Metro Station Naming Rights Initiative, a programme designed to integrate private sector brands into Dubai’s urban landscape through strategic, long-term partnerships.
Abdul Mohsen Kalbat, CEO of the RTA’s Rail Agency, welcomed National Paints to the initiative, describing the company as a “prestigious global entity” and highlighting the programme’s success in attracting diverse businesses from across the UAE.
“We are keen to expand and strengthen cooperation with the private sector—not only in Dubai but across the UAE,” Kalbat stated. “This aligns with the government's direction to foster partnerships based on shared knowledge, expertise, and economic opportunity.”
Such collaborations, he added, support Dubai’s overall economic growth and help create job opportunities across various sectors.
Metro Stations as Branding Landmarks
Mohamad Al Hammadi, CEO of Mada Media, described the partnership as more than a visibility opportunity, calling it a strategic move to transform metro stations into urban branding and advertising platforms.
“We’re not just creating visibility,” Al Hammadi explained. “We’re building impactful brand presence in high-footfall, high-visibility urban environments.”
This approach reflects the growing value of transit media as an effective tool for consumer engagement and brand recognition in Dubai’s rapidly evolving urban ecosystem.
A Decade-Long Commitment by National Paints
Founded in 1969 in Amman, with headquarters established in Sharjah since 1977, National Paints has played a significant role in the UAE’s economic and industrial development. The company provides high-quality, sustainable coatings and paints for a wide range of industries.
Samer Sayegh, Managing Director and Partner at National Paints, emphasized that this partnership strengthens the company’s presence within Dubai’s communities and supports its commitment to shaping the UAE’s urban landscape.
“We are proud to partner with the RTA and secure the naming rights of a metro station that is a vital connector in Dubai’s world-class transport network,” Sayegh said. “This visibility on the Metro deepens our bond with the communities we serve.”
Seamless Digital and Physical Integration
Starting from July 2025, the RTA will begin implementing changes across the Metro system to reflect the station’s updated name. This includes:
- Revised internal and external signage
- Updates across RTA smart systems and mobile apps
- Integration of the new name in onboard audio announcements before station arrival
The updates aim to provide consistency across physical and digital platforms, ensuring smooth navigation and clear communication for passengers.
Public-Private Partnerships Driving Dubai’s Progress
The renaming of Jebel Ali Metro Station highlights Dubai’s innovative approach to urban development, where public infrastructure is enhanced through strategic partnerships with leading private sector companies. The Metro Station Naming Rights Initiative has already seen several high-profile collaborations, transforming transport hubs into commercial landmarks and boosting both brand exposure and city revenue.
This model supports:
- Increased investment in public transport infrastructure
- The promotion of leading brands within Dubai’s high-traffic areas
- Strengthened ties between government entities and the private sector
- Creation of economic opportunities and jobs across industries
A Growing Trend in Global Cities
Dubai’s initiative follows similar trends seen in major cities worldwide, where transport systems double as advertising and branding platforms. Such partnerships contribute to the city’s dynamic, modern image while providing tangible benefits for commuters, businesses, and the broader economy.
Conclusion: A Win-Win for Dubai and Businesses
With the renaming of Jebel Ali Metro Station to National Paints Station, Dubai continues to demonstrate its commitment to innovation, public-private cooperation, and urban progress. As these partnerships grow, the city’s transport network evolves not only as a means of mobility but also as a platform for economic growth, brand visibility, and global recognition.
For commuters, the change will soon become part of their daily journeys, while for businesses like National Paints, it represents a long-term investment in both visibility and community engagement within the UAE’s thriving urban environment.
