Major drainage contracts awarded under Tasreef to expand 36km of pipelines, improve flood mitigation, and support long-term infrastructure goals
Dubai Municipality has awarded Dhs1.439bn in contracts for four major stormwater drainage projects under the Tasreef programme — the emirate’s largest unified stormwater collection system. Over 36 km of new drainage pipelines will be constructed across critical areas such as Nad Al Hamar, Al Garhoud, Zabeel, Jumeirah, Al Quoz, and near Dubai International Airport, significantly increasing flood protection and stormwater capacity.
The new lines will connect to the Tasreef main tunnel, enhancing operational efficiency and network performance while reducing long-term operation and maintenance costs by 20%. The projects are a strategic step in future-proofing Dubai’s infrastructure and aligning with goals to improve drainage discharge by 700% over the next century.
With a projected Dhs30bn investment, Tasreef aims to establish Dubai as a global leader in sustainable infrastructure and urban resilience, according to Dubai Municipality’s acting DG, Eng. Marwan bin Ghalita.
