Dubai International Airport will be given ‘temporary accommodation’ until they will be able to travel back to Sudan and other destinations
Dubai International Airport (DXB) has extended its support to Sudanese transit passengers, who were unable to complete their journey from Dubai to Khartoum in Sudan, according to a statement by the Dubai Media Office (DMO).
This was due to the cancellation of connecting flights between the two cities, because of the current situation in Sudan.
On Sunday, a violent conflict that arose between the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), the country’s primary paramilitary group. As per reports, the RSF took over control of the Khartoum airport as well as the presidential palace.
“Dubai International Airport provided various kinds of support to the passengers, who flew into Dubai from various countries. The passengers have been offered temporary accommodation until they are able to travel to Khartoum or they choose to travel to other destinations,” a spokesperson for Dubai Airports said.
The spokesperson further added that Dubai Airports is “closely monitoring the situation in Sudan to determine the course of action in the coming days,” and will prioritise the safety of the passengers and crew.
