Etihad Airways, Emirates confirm reduction of some services to UK, Asia, Australia
The UAE’s two leading international airlines have confirmed the temporary reduction and suspension of services to a number of its global destinations during the summer and autumn periods.
Emirates airline is set to reduce its Dubai to Fort Lauderdale and Dubai to Orlando services from daily to five times a week from early July.
“This decision was made as part of our routine operational review to ensure that our capacity is deployed to best serve customer demand across our global network,” a spokesperson for the Dubai carrier said.
“We remain committed to our US operations and will continue to serve our 12 American gateways.”
Emirates is also set to slightly reduce its services to Bangkok, Kuala Lumpar, Phuket, Munich and London Heathrow in the coming months, according to aviation network website Routesonline.
“The reduction of frequencies to the destinations … are for a set period of time and capacity is being deployed elsewhere in the network to best serve customer demand,” a spokesperson told Arabian Business.
Abu Dhabi carrier Etihad Airways confirmed that it will suspend services to Edinburgh, Scotland and Perth, Australia.
As part of an ongoing review of network performance, Etihad Airways said both services will be suspended from October 1 next.
Etihad said it remains committed to the both UK and Australian markets, with services to London, Manchester, Sydney, Brisbane and Melbourne part of its regular schedules.
A spokesperson for the airline told Arabian Business that the cancellation of services to both cities are part of “several adjustments that we are making to our network in 2018 in order to improve system profitability”.
