UAE Nationals are invited to follow in the footsteps of Hazza Al Mansoori, the first Emirati astronaut
The Mohammed bin Rashid Space Centre (MBRSC) has opened registration for the second edition of the UAE Astronaut Programme.
It comes following the success of the eight-day mission of Hazza Al Mansoori, the first Emirati astronaut, to the International Space Station (ISS) earlier this year.
It's hoped the second edition of the programme will prepare and train Emirati astronauts of the future to follow in his footsteps.
Al Mansoori and Sultan Al Neyadi were the first astronauts selected out of the programme, which was launched on December 7, 2017 by Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.
Al Mansoori’s eight-day mission to the ISS, which took place from September 25 to October 3, saw 30 scientific experiments being conducted.
Emiratis can register for the second edition of the UAE Astronaut Programme online at mbrsc.ae/astronauts. The deadline for registration is January 19, 2020.
