UAE and Israel will recognise driver’s licences for citizens
The UAE and Israel have signed a deal to recognise driving licences for citizens in respective countries.
The mutual recognition means that Emiratis will be permitted to drive cars in Israel using licences from the UAE.
Tourists visiting the United Arab Emirates from Israel will be able to use their licence.
UAE-Israel relations
Media reports in Israel said the Foreign and Transportation ministers in the respective countries have been working on the agreement for the past year.
The agreement comes into effect immediately.
Israel Foreign Minister Eli Cohen said: “This move of mutual recognition of licenses will greatly ease the burden on the Israeli tourist, will avoid bureaucracy, and is another testament to the warm relations between the countries”.
The agreement comes days after the United Arab Emirates and Israel signed a customs agreement to enhance trade between the two countries.
