UFC President Dana White said that Nurmagomedov is 'good' with the organisation despite a post-match brawl with Conor McGregor
UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov will visit the UAE soon, according to UFC President Dana White.
White’s comments come after Nurmagomedov threatened to leave the UFC if the organisation release teammate Zubaira Tukhugov for his actions in a brawl that occurred after his recent fight against Conor McGregor.
Speaking to TMZ in the United States, however, White said that he does not believe Nurmagomedov will leave.
“We’re good. We’re good with Khabib. I don’t know [who he’s going to fight next]. We haven’t talked about that yet,” he said. “He’s doing this whole tour right now. He’s going to UAE…..let this guy enjoy his win and then we’ll figure that out.”
Additionally, White attributed the post-fight brawl to Nurmagomedov “getting a little fired up.”
“That was a very emotional fight for him, obviously,” he said. “At the end of the day, Khabib’s a great guy. We’ve always had a great relationship with him.”
Nurmagomedov – who now holds a 27-0 record – has had his $2 million fight purse withheld by the Nevada State Athletic Commission while he and McGregor await punishment for the incident.
