Dubai Health Authority to take action for misconduct in marketing and promotion
A dental clinic that offered giveaways of TVs and mobile phones to potential customers, causing a traffic jam outside its premises along one of Dubai’s busiest streets, is facing legal action by the emirate's health authority for failing to gain official approvals before launching the campaign.
“DHA [Dubai Health Authority] will take legal action against a dental clinic in Al Wasl after it carried out a marketing and promotional campaign without getting a final approval from the DHA Health Regulation Sector to begin operations,” the DHA said in a media statement on Saturday.
“Moreover, it did not follow advertising protocols, the clinic announced prizes and giveaways including TVs and mobile phones to clinic visitors, which caused a traffic jam on Al Wasl Road,” it added.
The statement did not name the dental clinic at the centre of the legal action, but added that “all Dubai health facilities should follow federal and local guidelines for regulatory processes including all marketing and promotional guidelines”.
