Dubai nature reserve set to host 270km ultra marathon
Al Marmoom Ultramarathon offers 270km, 100km and 50km challenges across desert terrain; will be held on December 11-15
Dubai's Al Marmoom Desert Conservation Reserve will host the world's longest desert ultra-run later this year.
The Al Marmoom Ultramarathon is a 270km, 100km and 50km race across desert terrain and will be held on December 11-15.
A serious challenge for ultra runners, the 270 km will be completed in four days while the 100km and 50km races are continuous.
Al Marmoom Ultra Marathon, organised under the umbrella of Dubai Sports Council, will have prizes for three categories – male, female and team.
A trophy and a grand prize of $6,000 will go to the first placed man and woman, along with further trophies and cash for second and third place.
Challengers will also be able to take on the 100km and 50km ultramarathons, which are offering cash prizes and medals.
For the 270km run, the AED5,800 fee includes bus transport, accommodation in a camp, a main meal before the race starts as well as a medal and t-shirt when you finish.
Entrants need to be aged over 18 years old and provide a medical certificate to show their ability to participate in a race.
A medical team will also be supervising the race in case of injury or exhaustion.
