UAEV aims to expand its network to include 1,000 strategically located chargers across urban hubs, highways, and key transit points by 2030
UAEV, the UAE's first government-owned electric vehicle (EV) charging network, will implement new tariffs for EV charging services beginning in January 2025. This change follows the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure's introduction of new pricing measures, representing a major step toward improving the network’s sustainability and expansion.
Since the tariff announcement last May, EV charging services have been offered free of charge. This transitional phase allowed UAEV to fine-tune its operations while ensuring equal access for users. With the new tariffs effective in January, EV users will encounter standardized and transparent pricing. The new rates are set at Dhs1.2 per kWh (plus VAT) for DC chargers and Dhs0.70 per kWh (plus VAT) for AC chargers.
The pricing strategy aims to guarantee fair and consistent fees, aligned with the increasing demand for EV infrastructure nationwide, while supporting UAEV’s operational efficiency.
Alongside the new tariffs, UAEV will introduce a series of user-focused innovations to enhance the EV user experience. The company plans to launch a mobile app to streamline the process of locating charging stations, monitoring real-time availability, and facilitating seamless payments.
Additionally, UAEV will establish a dedicated 24/7 call center to provide continuous support to users, ensuring an uninterrupted charging experience. Sharif al Olama, chairman of UAEV, stressed the importance of these advancements, highlighting their role in the UAE’s pursuit of sustainable transportation.
He stated, "This is a transformative step in our journey towards sustainable transportation. The introduction of standardized charging tariffs and innovative solutions like the UAEV app and 24/7 support demonstrates our commitment to enhancing the EV driver experience. By expanding our network and aligning with the UAE’s Net Zero 2050 Strategy, we aim to foster a cleaner, greener future for everyone."
UAEV plans to expand its network to encompass 1,000 strategically placed chargers across urban areas, highways, and key transit points by 2030, ensuring that EV drivers have access to reliable charging locations throughout the UAE, both within and between cities.
