UAE residents wake up Sunday morning covered in dust as a powerful sandstorm has affected several areas of the state, prompting authorities to issue weather and traffic warnings.
The National Center of Meteorology (NCM) said that the country from Sunday to Thursday will be affected by the expansion of a low pressure system on the surface, accompanied by a weak low pressure system in the upper atmosphere with the formation of cumulus clouds accompanied by precipitation, especially in the eastern and southern parts.
The Center also confirmed that it is monitoring the situation around the clock and will continue to inform the public about the latest developments, urging the public, road users and motorists to take precautions when driving in the rain and avoid approaching surface drains and puddles of rainwater. He also appealed to the members of the society to follow the bulletins and reports published by NECK and not to spread rumors.
Sharjah police urged motorists to drive carefully as dust storms worsened visibility in several areas.
Police said: “We remind drivers to be careful while driving due to dust formation and dust accumulation, leaving sufficient distance between vehicles, reducing speed and taking care when handling the road with caution...”
The weather around the USER has changed over the past couple of days, changing from a cool morning to a somewhat sunny one.
Meteorological services said that the country is currently under the influence of the Red Sea depression, accompanied by a depression of the surface extending from west to east, which leads to an increase in clouds over some northern, eastern and inland areas of the country.
