New infections involve people from Italy, the UAE, Sri Lanka, Britain, India, Germany, South Africa, Tanzania and Iran
The UAE on Tuesday reported another surge in new coronavirus cases with 15 infections taking the country's total to 74.
According to state news agency WAM, the Ministry of Health and Community Protection announced the new cases of Covid-19, adding that they are all being quarantined.
It said the discovery was a result of "early and effective application of preventive and precautionary measures".
The new infections involve people from Italy, the UAE, Sri Lanka, Britain, India, Germany, South Africa, Tanzania and Iran.
The ministry said that all cases are stable and receiving all the necessary healthcare.
The ministry also announced the full recovery of a further five people, bringing the total number of recovered cases in the country to 17.
Three Emiratis, an Egyptian and a Moroccan are now "symptom-free" after receiving the necessary health treatment in hospital.
The UAE ministry added that several precautionary measures have been put in place, including the installation of detection thermal imaging systems and health checks at the country's border entry points, and isolating confirmed and suspected cases.
People with respiratory symptoms were also advised to avoid mixing in crowded places.
Elsewhere in the Gulf region, cases in Bahrain rose to 110 while Kuwait recorded four more cases to total 69 infections.
Bahrain’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs called on citizens in the kingdom not to travel “unless absolutely necessary” following directives from the Cabinet.
The UAE on Monday recorded 14 new Covid-19 cases, while Bahrain also announced a new surge as case numbers exceeded 100 in the Gulf kingdom.
Globally, coronavirus cases exceeded 114,500 on Tuesday while the death toll rose to over 4,000.
