New Year’s Day is generally confirmed as a public holiday each year
The UAE’s Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation has confirmed that private sector workers will receive a paid public holiday to mark the New Year.
This will mean a day off for private sector employees on Monday, January 1, with work resuming on Tuesday, January 2.
Earlier this week, the ministry confirmed that UAE government workers would receive two days off to mark the occasion on Sunday, December 31, and Monday, January 1.
This means public sector staff will have a four-day weekend including the previous Friday and Saturday.
