The Abu Dhabi Judicial Department will oversee the emirate's penal and correctional institutions from January 1, 2024
At the beginning of next year, there will be a change of prison management in the UAE capital.
The President of the UAE, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nayhan, as the ruler of Abu Dhabi, issued a law concerning punitive and correctional institutions in the emirate.
In accordance with this law, the functions of managing such institutions, as well as institutions for minors, will be transferred from the Abu Dhabi Police Headquarters to the Judicial Department of the Emirate.
The new law will continue to contribute to the rehabilitation of prison inmates
According to a report published by the Abu Dhabi press service, the law, which comes into force on January 1, 2024, will contribute to the development of the rehabilitation and correctional ecosystem in the emirate.
As for other news, the Dubai Prosecutor's Office has launched a new service that allows persons involved in a criminal case to pay a fine and automatically lift the travel ban after a court verdict.
After paying the fine, the smart service contacts the Dubai police to cancel the arrest warrants and stop searching for individuals.
The Smart Fine Payment digital service is aimed at speeding up the procedures for executing court decisions in absentia and increasing the speed of their execution.
