CBUAE Unveils New Sustainable Dhs100 Polymer Banknote with Advanced Security Features
The Central Bank of the UAE (CBUAE) has introduced a new Dhs100 polymer banknote, featuring cutting-edge security elements and a modern design, aligning with the country’s sustainability vision.
Innovative Design & Security Enhancements
- Maintains traditional red color tones for easy recognition.
- Features Um Al Quwain National Fort on the front, symbolizing the UAE’s rich heritage.
- Showcases the Port of Fujairah and Etihad Rail on the reverse, highlighting economic progress.
- Uses advanced security technologies, including SPARK Flow DIMENSIONS and KINEGRAM COLORS to prevent counterfeiting.
- Braille symbols incorporated for accessibility.
Durability & Circulation
- Polymer material extends the banknote’s lifespan, making it more sustainable.
- Circulates alongside existing Dhs100 paper and polymer banknotes from March 24, 2025.
- Banks and exchange houses must update systems for smooth transactions.
CBUAE’s Commitment to Excellence
The CBUAE has received multiple accolades, including the ‘Best New Banknote’ award at the 2023 and 2025 High Security Printing EMEA conference for its Dhs500 and Dhs1000 polymer banknotes.
Khaled Mohamed Balama, Governor of CBUAE, emphasized that the new Dhs100 banknote reflects the UAE’s dedication to sustainability, innovation, and financial leadership. Released in celebration of Eid Al-Fitr, this new issuance strengthens the UAE’s economic identity and global competitiveness.
