The break in work at noon, which took effect on June 15, lasted 92 days
The midday work ban across the UAE will end today, September 15, the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE) has announced.
During the ban period, work under the sun or in uncovered areas from 12.30pm to 3pm was prohibited.

The midday work break, which came into force on June 15, continued for 92 days this year.
The directive was to ensure the wellbeing and safety of labourers working under direct sunlight and to protect them from high temperatures during summer months, official news agency WAM reported.
The break, which is being held for the 18th year in a row, includes a number of control measures, information programs and events organized in cooperation with private sector organizations. The Ministry reported that it had conducted 55,192 inspection visits, with the compliance rate reaching 99 percent. Meanwhile, members of the public can also report midday break violations through the MoHRE Call Center or its app.
Some professions and jobs that were exempted from the ban for technical reasons included design work, such as applying asphalt concrete mix or pouring concrete, or other work necessary to prevent danger, repair damage, malfunctions or accidental accidental losses, including work to remove obstacles on water supply, sewerage and gas supply lines. Or oil pipelines, the statement says.
He also excluded works that required the permission of the relevant state authority due to their impact on the flow of traffic and services, which required their round-the-clock execution, such as redirecting traffic or disconnecting power and communication lines.
In the case when the work had to continue continuously during the daytime, the employer was obliged to provide the workers on duty with cold drinking water and maintain safety and public health conditions. The employer can do this by providing moisturizing products and liquids such as salt and lemon, or other products approved by local authorities. Companies were also ordered to provide umbrellas, first aid kits, refrigeration units and shady places for employees to rest during their rest.
In case of violations, fines of 5,000 dirhams per employee were to be levied, which could be increased to a maximum of 50,000 dirhams for several employees.
