Today marks 17 years since Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai assumed responsibility for the Council of Ministers.

17 years under Sheikh Mohammed’s unwavering leadership

The Cabinet celebrated 17 years of achievements under the leadership of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, “Mohammed bin Rashid… 17 years of achievements… He says what he does and does what he says 10,000 government decisions in the Council of Ministers during 440 meetings +66 ministers 14 cabinet reshuffle +4,200 legislation in all sectors +600 international agreements 330 government policies and initiatives to develop the economic environment,” a Twitter post by the Dubai Media Office said.

In a statement, Sheikh Mohammed said that Dubai “fought administrative and financial sluggishness, raised the government budget by more than 140 percent, and became the most effective government in public spending in the world.”

Dubai launched 330 government policies and initiatives to develop the economic environment in the country and signed 600 international agreements, the statement said, showing a jump in foreign trade from AED 415 billion to AED2,200 billion.

Dubai’s gross product also doubled in the same period, Sheikh Mohammed said, reaching over AED1,800 billion.

The Dubai ruler also said that over AED734 billion led the region in the state’s incoming investments.

“We lead the world today in more than 186 global indicators…we lead the region in more than 430 regional indicators…we have the highest sovereign financial rating in the region…and the first country in the region in the ease of doing business,” Sheikh Mohammed said.

The Dubai ruler also added that over the past 17 years, many ministerial reshuffles have been made and the government “pushed the youth to take part in shouldering the responsibility.”

“I worked with more than 66 ministers… all of them lived up to their responsibilities, and the government changed to be the most financially efficient government and the most capable of keeping pace with global changes… and we were able to build an integrated space sector, with investments amounting to AED36 billion, and includes space missions to Mars, Venus, the Moon, and others… and a space agency and the manufacture of national satellites within ten years only.”

The Dubai ruler also extended his gratitude to UAE President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, in the spirit of union and the spirit of the young Emirates.

“The march will continue. And God grants success first and foremost,” Sheikh Mohammed concluded.
