The move follows a thawing of relations between the GCC and Qatar earlier this month
Sharjah-based budget airline Air Arabia will resume flights to Doha next week, following the resolution of a dispute between Qatar and members of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC).
The carrier made the announcement today (Thursday) and said daily flights will resume on Monday (January 18), following a board of directors meeting which was held today.
Egyptair has already announced the resumption of flights to Doha today. Saudi Airlines and Qatar Airways also announced the opening of routes between Jeddah and Riyadh and the Qatari capital earlier this week.
The dispute, which began in 2017, was resolved at a GCC leaders summit held in Saudi Arabia on January 5, after which individual states have opened air, land and sea borders with Qatar.
Air Arabia launched Air Arabia Abu Dhabi, the UAE capital’s first low cost airline, as a joint venture with Etihad Airways earlier this year.
