Yas Island, the Abu Dhabi’s leisure and entertainment destination, has revealed its line-up of events for the first half of 2019.
The island is set to showcase over 30 events to entertain visitors, including new music, sports and family entertainment festivals, a statement said.
Leon Marsh, associate director of events, Destination Management - Yas Island, said: “Our annual calendar of more than 400 events perfectly complements the Yas Island experience for both tourists and residents, giving them access to world-class entertainment alongside top-notch hospitality and award-winning attractions.
“We have seen remarkable growth in the popularity of our events around Yas Island, with family festivals and fan favourites such as Yas Winter Carnival, Yas Movies in the Park and Yas Fitness Festival among others collectively receiving double the number of visitors compared to the previous year."
He added that for the first half of 2019, visitors can look forward to world-class shows, new family extravaganzas and major regional firsts.
Yas Marina circuit is racing into 2019 with a big milestone, hosting the opening race of the 2019 FIA World Rallycross Championship for the first time in the Middle East.
Taking place on April 5-6, the high octane cross surface race will feature a full program of on-track and off-track fast-paced action, music and entertainment.
Yas Island will welcome the legendary Cirque du Soleil from March 6-16 as they debut their Bazzar show in the Middle East exclusively on the island.
The leisure destination will also host the largest three-day outdoor adventure for kids. Running from February 21-23 at du Arena, the Yas Kidz Fest will feature endless activities and miniature adventures.
Yas Waterworld will introduce the UAE’s first ladies-only concert with a special edition of Ladies’ Night on March 21. This one-of-a-kind concert will be headlined by Emirati superstar Balqees.
Music lovers will also enjoy Bob Marley’s Birthday Festival featuring the original Wailers at Yas Beach on February 8.
Gamers can once again indulge in a world of immersive challenges and entertainment at the Yas Gaming Festival from June 5–15 at Yas Mall while foodies can rejoice at the first ever Seafood and Music Festival hosted by the waters of the Yas Marina from March 21-23.
Returning for its second season, Yas Beach’s Club Social makes eating a social affair for everyone from April 11–13, featuring over 15 food journeys to experience, beach fun, outdoor cinema, live workshops and performances.
Also returning next year are some of Yas Island’s signature festivals and events including the Abu Dhabi Pet Festival, Yas Movies in the Park, Block Party, Yas Fitness & Wellbeing Festival, Yas Super Street Challenge, the Abu Dhabi Sports Council Indoor Run, TriYas by Daman’s ActiveLife, Yas Racing Series, Yas Drag Night, Spring Fest at Yas Waterworld.
