The display is the highest resolution video wall in the world
A new video wall installed above Dubai Aquarium and Underwater Zoo in Dubai Mall has broken three Guinness World Records, according to developer Emaar’s entertainment subsidiary.
Emaar Entertainment said the project, in partnership with South Korean electronics firm LG, had broken the records for the largest OLED screen, highest resolution video wall and largest high-definition video wall.
The new attraction includes more than 820 flexible OLED panels that are able to curve to mimic ocean waves.
Emaar Entertainment CEO Maitha Al Dossari said the company continued to push boundaries.
It previously broke the record for the world’s longest DJ relay at Dubai Ice Rink in 2015, while Dubai Aquarium broke the record for the world’s largest acrylic panel when it opened in 2008.
“We’re committed to delivering the best in the industry and are honoured that the new OLED screen at Dubai Aquarium and Underwater Zoo has received three Guinness World Records achievements, underpinning our commitment to pioneering innovative attractions, continued advancements in technology and digital attractions, and inspiring joy,” he said.
Talal Omar, Guinness World Record’s country manager for MENA said the project complemented Dubai’s advanced technology focus.
Dubai Mall itself is known as the most visited shopping centre on the planet, hosting around 80 million shoppers a year.
