UAE Vice-President opens platform showcasing innovation as part of World Government Summit
Dubai: Governments of the future are the ones which espouse revolutionary ideas that advance human life by foreseeing challenges of the future and developing proactive solutions, said His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.
“The human being is the centre of innovation and the basis of all progress achieved by mankind throughout its historical journey. Governments that put man as a priority have indeed created solutions, developed tools, facilitated human life, and added to the journey of human development,” Shaikh Mohammad said on Friday while opening the ‘Edge of Government’ pavilion, which is being organised as part of the 6th World Government Summit in Dubai.

The summit will welcome 4,000 delegates in a pre-summit day on Saturday and over an official programme from Sunday to Tuesday.
Shaikh Mohammad was accompanied by Shaikh Hamdan Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Dubai Crown Prince; Mohammad Abdullah Al Gergawi, Minister of Cabinet Affairs and the Future and chairman of the World Government Summit Organisation; Uhoud Khalfan Al Roumi, Minister of State for Happiness and Quality of Life; and Omar Sultan Al Olama, Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence.
“We are inspired by global experiences that have made a difference in human life and building a better future. We believe that innovation is an essential component, because it is the only tool capable of changing the direction of history and finding solutions to major challenges,” Shaikh Mohammad said.
“The UAE has become a global incubator for innovation and a centre for the development of advanced science-based solutions, and a platform for global partnership aiming to make the world a better place for future generations.”
The Edge of Government, a pavilion for showcasing the innovative government experiences in human-oriented areas aimed at improving the quality of life, is organised by the Mohammad Bin Rashid Centre for Government Innovation.
The pavilion aims to enable governments to share their experiences and work closely together to serve the community and the future of generations. It gives the participants and visitors the chance to learn more about innovations and the latest methodologies adopted by governments to cope with rapid changes. It also puts such innovative experiences in the hands of the world governments in general and the UAE government in particular to benefit from and apply them, organisers said.
The pavilion will present, during the World Government Summit, seven innovative government experiences from countries around the world and will review revolutionary innovations for the governments of Sweden, Canada, the United Kingdom, the United States, Kenya, the Netherlands and Norway. The best innovative experiences will be honoured on the sidelines of the World Government Summit.
