A ten-month-old baby was left alone inside a Dubai apartment while the maid caring for him escaped from her sponsor’s home after stealing jewellery and cash.
The 30-year old Indonesian maid left the Arab boy asleep on the bed and left the apartment while the food was still cooking on the stove.
She admitted to the charges of theft and endangering the baby’s life when she appeared at Dubai Court of First Instance on Wednesday morning.

Prosecutors said that on November 1, 2011, the 33-year-old Egyptian employer left the flat in the Gardens to pick up her son from school while the maid remained home to care for the baby.
An hour later the woman returned home to find the door locked and when she entered the flat the maid was missing.
The woman said in records: “I looked for her all around and she was gone. I found food on the stove boiling and my baby was still asleep in his room. I thanked God that he was sleeping.”
She said that she found that the maid stole the cash, a gold ring and a white Nike sport shoes. She called Dubai Police and launched a complaint.
A verdict will be issued later this month.
