The new law of the UAE allows a medical personnel not to reanimate the dying, incurable patients. It is about those cases when treatment with guarantee doesn't yield results or, at least, three doctors advise to refrain from resuscitation.
Still any doctor who refused resuscitation of the patient wasn't brought to trial in the UAE. Change in the law appeared after the report of the target group created in Management of health care of Abu Dhabi. Nesrin of Al-Alfie from Fatima College for Health Care Sciences in Abu Dhabi declares that there were problems in overcoming cultural beliefs and a contradiction of a system of law concerning differentiation of the concepts "not reanimate" and "allow the patient to die naturally".
The new law including exempts doctors from criminal liability when earlier they could be exposed to criminal prosecution. According to new rules if the patient himself did himself harm or death is caused by voluntary refusal of treatment or non-compliance with recommendations of the attending physician, the doctor won't be brought to trial.
The doctor will also not bear responsibility if treatments resulted unexpected complications which weren't caused by a medical error.
Besides, the new law offers more hard line concerning a fraud in the field of medical insurance and enrichment of medical institutions and certain doctors.
Transactions on sex change will also be resolved in the country according to the new law.
Changes in an industry, according to experts, will help to attract the best doctors in the UAE and to support the medical tourism which is one of crucial elements in the concept of development of Dubai.
