Ban applicable to travellers who have transited through India in last 14 days
The ban on flights from India has been extended until June 14, UAE-based carrier Emirates said in its latest advisory on Sunday.
Passenger services were first suspended on April 24 for a period of ten days, following a surge in coronavirus cases in the Asian state. The ban was further extended until May 14.
As of Sunday, India recorded more than 240,000 new COVID-19 infections, taking the total number of cases to more than 26.5 million.
On its website, the long-haul operator said: “Emirates has suspended passenger flights from India effective April 24, 2020 until June 14, 2021. The flight ban is also applicable to passengers who have transited through India in the last 14 days.
UAE nationals, holders of UAE golden visas and members of diplomatic missions who comply with the revised published COVID-19 protocols will be exempt for travel.
Passengers who are unable to travel due to the flight ban are advised to keep their ticket for future travel. They have the option to rebook their flight to another date through a travel agent or booking office.
