UAE capital posts lowest crime rate among more than 400 cities worldwide
Abu Dhabi has further cemented its position as one of the world’s most ideal place to be for investors, expatriates and tourists, having ranked as the safest city for the fifth consecutive year, according to a new statement.
Global statistics database Numbeo’s Quality of Life Index for 2021 named the UAE capital as the safest city on earth with a score of 88.5 percent for safety.
Out of the 431 cities included in the ranking, Abu Dhabi posted the lowest crime score of just 11.5 percent.
“[Abu Dhabi is] cementing its position as a desirable destination to live, invest, work and visit,” Abu Dhabi Police said in a social media post.
“[The latest ranking] is a testament to the security and stability Abu Dhabi enjoys,” said Major General Staff Pilot Faris Al Mazrouei, commander-in-chief of Abu Dhabi Police.
Low crime rates are one of the most important considerations for high-net-worth individuals (HNWIs) when looking for investment opportunities overseas.
Over the past two decades, the UAE has been one of the world’s biggest recipients of migrating HNWIs. According to New World Wealth estimates, more than 25,000 HNWIs have moved to the UAE from 2010 to 2020.
“[The] reasons why HNWIs may be moving to the UAE include [country’s reputation for being the] top safe haven of the Middle East and North Africa region,” Andrew Amoils, wealth analyst of New World Wealth, said earlier.
