Expo 2020 Dubai tickets will be available for the general public in April 2020 - monthly and season passes will be available in Q4 2019
Ticket prices to Expo 2020 Dubai will be priced at AED 120 ($33), organisers announced on Sunday.
In a statement, Expo 2020 also said that a three-day pass – which can be used over any three days of the 173-day event – will be priced at AED 260 ($71).
A ticket will give access to 60 live shows each day, as well as technology on display and performances by artists, daily parades, special celebrations and over 200 F&B outlets.
Children under the age of five and seniors over 65 will be given free access to the event, while young people between the ages of six and 17 and students of any age will be given a 50 percent discount in tickets.
People of determination will be granted complimentary access, with their carers entering for half price.
“With less than 550 days to go before the biggest event ever to be held in the Arab region, excitement is building fast,” said Sanjive Khosla, Expo’s deputy chief of sales and marketing.
“We aim to be a World Expo that is accessible to all and believe the ticket prices and concessions will help us achieve that ambition,” he added. “We can’t wait to welcome millions of visitors from around the globe, as we make every effort to ensure that our welcome is warm and reflective of the rich Arabic tradition of hospitality.”
Three thematic districts
Expo officials believe that the event’s three thematic districts focused on opportunity, mobility and sustainability, along with the 192 country pavilions, will warrant multiple visits to the Expo site.
“Every day at Expo 2020 there will be more than 60 live events, including parades, performances, global music shows, hands-on workshops and other diverse entertainment for all to enjoy,” said Gillian Hamburger, senior vice president, programing.
Hamburger added that there will be sitewide celebrations on special occasions such as Diwali, UAE National Day, Christmas, New Year’s Eve, Chinese New Year and International Women’s Day.
“We’re not only welcoming the future, but also welcoming the fun,” she added.
The event’s F&B offerings will also serve up 50 global cuisines and offer visitors a range of culinary experience and street bites aimed at catering to every budget and palate.
“As a global celebration welcoming millions from around the world, it is only fitting that Expo 2020 Dubai is a world-class dining destination featuring tantalising flavours and innovative concepts from every corner of the planet,” said Darren Tse, Expo’s director of programming.
“There will be something to suit everyone’s taste and budget, whether you are a foodie seeking a new gastronomic experience, an innovator keen to see how technology will change how you order and enjoy food, or simply looking to feed your family without breaking the bank,” he added.
Single-day and three-day tickets will be offered to international travellers in bundled packages to be sold by authorised ticket resellers, contracted with Expo from next month.
Tickets will go on sale to the general public in April 2020, although monthly and season passes will be available in Q4 2019.
