Emirates Central Cooling Systems, also known as Empower, has signed a contract with Dubai's Museum of the Future to provide 2,459 refrigeration tonnes of district cooling capacity, the company announced on Tuesday.
According to Empower, the agreement is a reflection of increased interest from the property sector in investmenting in environmental sustainability as a key factor to improve growth, and underscores the economic benefits of adoptin district cooling in real estate development.
"A hub for the future of humanity is being built right here in Dubai. Providing the Museum of the Future with a sustainable cooling solution is in line with the UAE’s sustainability agenda and Empower will ensure that the air-conditioning requirements of the technology centre will meet the highest international standards," said Empower CEO Ahmad bin Shafar.
In October, Empower reported 5.4 percent savings on district cooling energy consumption as a reslt of its 'Smile at 24 degrees' summer campaign.
The campaign - which was launched in June - asked consumers to set their AC units to 24°C to help save on their electricity bill, while also saving on energy.
Empower provides district coolin services to a number of large-scale real estate developments in Dubai, including Jumeirah Group, Business Bay, Jumeirah Beach Residence, Dubai International Financial Centre and Palm Jumeirah.
