New service would see airline picking up luggage from passengers' homes
Emirates is reportedly working on a home check-in service where the airline picks up luggage from the passenger's home.
The Emirates staff member would scan the person’s passport, the flight details are logged, then the luggage is tagged and the passenger is handed their boarding pass, according to media reports.
While Emirates would not disclose details, a spokesperson told Arabian Business: "At Emirates, we continually invest in innovative ways to improve the customer experience.
"At the moment we are trialling several initiatives to provide greater convenience for our customers and will share details when they become available.”
More evidence of the plan is a new video shared on social media which has given a sneak preview of the system.
Passengers will be able to avoid transporting their luggage to the airport and would only have to pick it up from the carousel at their destination.
It is not yet known whether the programme will be available to all customers or just certain cabins.
