Emirates Airlines swiftly dismissed a social media video on Saturday, confirming it as fabricated and not genuine. The airline is actively working to have the video removed.
In an official blog post on its X account, Emirates clarified, “We are aware of a video circulating on various social media platforms that allegedly shows an aircraft crash with the Emirates logo. We confirm that this video is a fabrication and not a real-life event.”
“We are in communication with different social media platforms to ensure the video is removed or labeled as a digitally created clip to prevent the spread of false and alarming information. Unfortunately, the response from platforms regarding content review is not sufficiently quick, which has led us to issue this statement,” Emirates continued. The airline underscored its unwavering commitment to safety, a cornerstone of the Emirates brand and operations, highlighting the seriousness of the situation.
They advised audiences to always verify information with official sources to prevent the spread of false information.
The viral video has been linked to the intentional spread of misinformation, falsely suggesting an incident involving an Emirati aircraft in Abu Dhabi.
Emirates Airlines has firmly denied these claims.
