Dubai Ranks Among World's Most Attractive Cities in GPCI Report
Dubai has secured 23rd place among 44 global cities in the Global Power City Index (GPCI) 2017, making its debut in the prestigious ranking published by The Mori Memorial Foundation’s Institute for Urban Strategies.
The GPCI evaluates cities based on their ability to attract businesses, talent, and innovation, using six key factors:

? Research & Development
? Cultural Interaction
? Livability
? Environment
? Accessibility
Top Global Cities in 2017
? #1 London – Maintained its top position for the 10th consecutive year, excelling in cultural interaction and economic stability.
? #2 New York – Strong in economy but slightly weaker in cultural interaction.
? #3 Tokyo – Closing the gap on New York with improved tourism and accessibility.
Dubai entered the GPCI ranking for the first time, achieving 9th place in Cultural Interaction and 11th in Economy, thanks to luxury hospitality and competitive corporate tax rates. Other new entrants included Buenos Aires (40th).
? Cities that improved rankings included Sydney (10th), Los Angeles (11th), Beijing (13th), and Amsterdam (7th).
Dubai's Rise in Global Rankings
- Cultural Interaction: Dubai ranked 9th globally, thanks to its booming tourism, luxury hotels, and global business appeal.
- Economic Strength: Ranking 11th, the city benefits from low corporate taxes and a pro-business environment.
The report highlights rapid urbanization and globalization as key factors reshaping the power of cities. Hiroo Ichikawa, Executive Director of The Mori Memorial Foundation, emphasized that cities must leverage their unique strengths to stay competitive in the global landscape.
