Latifa Hospital for Women and Children in Dubai will deliver up to 1,000 babies per year post expansion
Latifa Hospital for Women and Children in Dubai is set to expand its labour and delivery suite as well as its emergency department, according to a top health official.
Dr Muna Tahlak, CEO of Latifa Hospital, which is part of Dubai Health Authority's portfolio, said in comments published by state news agency WAM: "The design will enhance accessibility, safety and delivery of service. The expansion will not only increase capacity but also it will improve patient flow procedures, minimise patient transfers from one location to another and enhance overall care."
He said two more operation theatre rooms will be added taking the total number to six.
The hospital, which currently carries out between 5,000 to 6,000 deliveries per year, will handle close to 1,000 deliveries annually following the expansion, he added.
The paediatric and maternity emergency departments function round-the-clock on all days and both will undergo expansion to expand capacity, Tahlak said.
Latifa Hospital for Women and Children is the oldest and largest dedicated maternity and paediatric hospital in the emirate.
