Dubai airport will close its northern runway from 5-7pm UAE time on Friday, from 4-7pm on Sunday, and from 5-7pm on Monday
Dubai International Airport, the world's busiest international travel hub, announced on Thursday that it will temporarily close one of its two runways for upgrades over the next few days.
The work is phased over three days in May for maintenance and upgrade work, operator Dubai Airports said in a statement.
The airport will close its northern runway from 5-7pm UAE time on Friday, from 4-7pm on Sunday, and from 5-7pm on Monday.
"The closures have been carefully planned during the least busy period of the day and in close coordination with airlines and other service partners involved in airport operations, to minimise flight disruptions and keep passenger inconvenience to a minimum," a Dubai Airports spokesperson said.
"Dubai Airports requests passengers travelling on the mentioned dates to check their flight times before heading to the airport and to check with their respective airlines for any updates," the statement added.
The closure plan comes as Dubai International’s southern runway remains closed until May 30 as part of a 45-day rehabilitation project.
