Dubai Municipality says that local newspaper reports that the iconic structure will open on Tuesday are false.
The official opening date of the Dubai Frame has not been decided, according to Mohamed Mubarak Al Mutaiwei, Assistant Director General for Dubai Municipality’s Communication and Community sector.
Responding to local newspaper reports that claimed the Frame would be opened on Tuesday, Al Mutaiwei said that the project will be opened only after the completion of project works and operations.
Dubai Municipality is urging members of the public to not circulate unconfirmed news reports and make sure to receive news through the official channels of the municipality.
“Dubai Frame is one of the unique projects that Dubai Municipality is keen to implement. It is an aesthetic icon and an architectural landmark that culturally connects the past with the present, and an important attraction for visitors, tourists and residents alike,” Al Muwaiwei said. “It is expected to attract about two million tourists annually.”
The Dubai Frame consists of two transparent 150-metre tall glass towers that are connected by a 93 metre bridge. The space between the towers is designed to give a clear view of the city, with the modern buildings of Sheikh Zayed Road on one side and landmark areas of “Old Dubai” such as Deira, Umm Hurair and Karama on the other side.
