Dubai Municipality has announced that hotels operating in Dubai are now allowed to build restaurants on their rooftops.
Hussain Nasser Lootah, director-general of Dubai Municipality, has issued an administrative decision authorising the building of restaurants on hotel rooftops, in accordance with Decision No. 66 of 2007, regarding controls involving planning and structural modifications.
According to UAE state news agency, WAM, the resolution stipulates that hotels are now authorised to request permission for the construction of restaurants on rooftops according to specific planning requirements.
The requirements cover, among other elements, the size of the construction project.
The resolution specifies that construction size should not exceed 50% of the roof floor area; that the maximum building area should not exceed 1,000m2, and that the lateral slope of the building’s rooftop should not be less than 1.5m on all sides of the building.
