The Dubai international financial center has prepared an online service on simplification of drawing up testamentary acts by residents of the emirate, not being Muslims.
The department of registration of testamentary acts (Wills & Probate Registry, WPR) from the Dubai international financial center (DIFC) on Thursday started an online service according to the order declarations of will concerning the real estate — the simplified version of the Wills & Probate of the register for not Muslims started last year, intended for expats who own a small amount of the real estate in Dubai. By means of this service the residents of the emirate who aren't practising Islam can register in property up to five objects or shares in five objects without restriction on cost, Sean Hird, the director of DIFC WPR told. The document is constituted online, but for the signature the applicant shall organize a meeting in the vessels DIFC.
The cost of services is less, than in case of regular registration, 7,5 thousand dirhams ($2041) and 10 thousand dirhams ($2722) for the joint document from spouses also make.
Thanks to registration in WPR in case of the death of expats the real estate will be inherited not according to the principles of Sharia, but proceeding from wishes of expats.
Hird told that today in 30% of cases British, in 30% — Indians resort to the similar procedure.
The simplified procedure of declaration of will of owners was developed in response to concern of investors expats in the local principles of inheritance, especially when the real estate object is the unique asset of the expat in Dubai.
