Entertainment destinations, cinemas and gyms also ordered to stay shut to mitigate spread of Covid-19
Commercial centres, shopping malls, cinemas, electronic game halls (arcades) and other entertainment destinations in Abu Dhabi will remain closed until further notice to combat the spread of coronavirus.
According to a new circular from the Abu Dhabi Department of Economic Development (ADDED), valet parking has also been suspended, while fitness and bodybuilding halls are to stay shut and there remains a ban on the sale of shisha in restaurants and cafes.
Mohammed Ali Al Shorafa, chairman of ADDED, said the newly issued circular is being implemented in cooperation and coordination with the National Emergency Crisis and Disaster Management Authority (NCEMA) and the Ministry of Health and Prevention (MoHaP).
A report on Emirates News Agency (WAM), said: “The new circular directs all licensed companies and establishments in Abu Dhabi to continue to comply with the order to remain closed, which means not to open their doors to the public offering their products and services.”
ADDED will be carrying out inspection visits to ensure compliance with the order and monitor any violations.
To date there are 1,505 confirmed cases of coronavirus in the UAE, while 10 deaths have been reported.
