Only four of 1,020 employees were replaced during the transition, according to CEO Mohammed Al Habtoor
Al Habtoor Group's three hotels in Dubai’s Business Bay will be rebranded as Hilton hotels, the company confirmed on Tuesday.
Under a franchise agreement signed with Hilton, effective from August 1, the three hotels in Habtoor City will be renamed as Habtoor Palace, LXR Hotels & Resorts, V Hotel, Curio Collection by Hilton and Hilton Dubai Al Habtoor City.
All three hotels will be managed by Habtoor Hospitality, a spokesperson for Al Habtoor Group told Arabian Business.
The annoucement comes after Al Habtoor Group revealed earlier this month that Marriott International will no longer run the St. Regis Dubai, W Dubai Habtoor City and Westin Dubai Al Habtoor City.
Speaking at a press conference today, Ian Carter, Hilton’s president of global development, architecture, design and construction said the St. Regis Dubai will become the 234-room Al Habtoor Palace, a LXR Hotels and Resorts property.
Also announced, the W Dubai Habtoor City will become the 356-room V Hotel, a Curio Collection by Hilton, and the Westin Dubai Al Habtoor City will become the 1,004-room Hilton Dubai Al Habtoor City.
Mohammed Al Habtoor, vice chairman and CEO of Al Habtoor Group, revealed that only four of 1,020 Marriott employees were replaced during the transition. He said all F&B outlets will remain in their current format and branding.
He added that Marriott will continue to manage two of group’s seven international hotels in Budapest (Ritz Carlton) and Vienna (Hotel Imperial).
“We ended our relationship with Marriott International [earlier] but we still have Marriott managing some of our properties around the world. [Our global hotels] are almost divided by half between the giants Hilton Worldwide and Marriott. We will continue working with everyone,” he said.
Collectively, the three hotels offer nearly 1,600 rooms, 18 restaurants and lounges, two spas, 34 meeting and banqueting spaces and three ballrooms.
Marriott International said the decision to part was mutual. It added that the parties “are working closely together to ensure a smooth and seamless transition for associates, clients and partners.”
On July 1, Marriot International also ceased to manage the St. Regis Dubai, Al Habtoor Polo Resort and Club, which was transferred to Al Habtoor Group.
