Abu Dhabi's hotel industry registered solid growth during the fourth quarter of 2019 with the revenues hitting Dh1.84 billion ($501 million), up 3.5 per cent over the previous year's figures of Dh1.774 billion ($483 million), according to data released by the Statistics Centre - Abu Dhabi (SCAD).
The growth is reflective of the high performance of the sector since the beginning of the year and the increasing tourist volume in the UAE capital thanks to its integrated infrastructure and multi-faceted sightseeing attractions, stated the SCAD report.
According to the report, the number of hotel guests in the emirate surged to Dh1.338 million during the reference period, ratcheting the occupancy rate to 79.6 per cent, with hotel nights up 1.4 per cent to 3,630 compared to 2018, it added.
Of the total number, SCAD said nearly 1.17 million guests came from the Abu Dhabi Region, while 135,000 were from Al Ain Region and 38,000 from Al Dhafra Region.
Non-Arabs carrying Asian passports topped the hotel guests list totalling 363,679 followed by Emiratis numbering 360,007, Europeans with 284,379 in addition to 143,889 guests from Arab countries and 143,889 from GCC states, stated the report.
