UAE retail giant plans new Saudi malls, supermarkets
Lulu signs deal with the Saudi Arabian National Guard Forces to open two shopping centres and seven supermarkets
Lulu, the UAE-based hypermarket retail chain, has signed an agreement with the Saudi Arabian National Guard Forces (SANG) to open two shopping centres and seven supermarkets in Dammam and Al Ahsa in the kingdom.
The new retail facilities will be operational inside SANG campuses to serve National Guard officials and their families, a statement said.
The agreement was signed by Prince Mishal bin bader bin Saud bin Abdul Aziz, Undersecretary of the National Guard and Yusuffali MA, chairman and managing director of Lulu Group International.
Yusuff Ali said: “We are honoured to have been selected and thank the Saudi National Guard Force authorities for this prestigious initiative. We will make sure that, these supermarkets will be the best in the world and serve the national guard officials and their families in best possible manner."
He said the stores will be opened in the next six months and is expected to generate sizeable employment for local Saudi youth.
Lulu group currently employs more than 2,700 Saudi nationals, with plans to expand the workforce to more than 5,000 nationals by the end of 2020.
With 15 projects in the pipeline, Lulu said it currently operates 14 hypermarkets and 10 Aramco commissaries across Saudi Arabia.
