Nando's UAE sees major growth in food delivery business
An increase in the standard of food delivery services has boosted the Dubai food and beverage industry with major providers reporting a boost of year-on-year sales
Global restaurant brand Nando's has reported a double digit growth in its delivery business in the UAE as service standards improve.
Nando’s UAE on Wednesday reported a strong start to the year as it increased the amount of delivery business in Q1 from by 16 percent compared to the year-earlier period, representing 22 percent of its total revenue.
An increase in the standard of food delivery services has boosted the Dubai food and beverage industry with major providers reporting a boost of year-on-year sales, said George Kunnappally, managing director of Nando’s UAE.
He said an increased network of delivery drivers combined with high standards in food quality and packaging was at the heart of this positive result.
He added: “If we look at Deliveroo they are getting bigger and faster all the time and we have matched that pace at Nando’s – making sure our product is first class and it arrives with the customer just as it should be.
“This is really positive news for both ourselves and the industry in general and shows that if you keep innovating then there is still a strong market in Dubai. The delivery network in the city really developed in 2018 and has kicked on again this year and we are delighted to be central to that growth.
“Key is keeping those high standards as you cannot afford to be overtaken. The next step is obviously combing delivery orders with bringing people into Nando’s to eat and on that we are improving the experience all the time.”
The first Nando’s restaurant opened its doors in 1987 in Johannesburg, South Africa. Since then, the Nando’s flame has spread to 1,200 restaurants in 23 countries on five continents. Nando’s is known worldwide for its succulent peri-peri chicken.
