INJAZ UAE CELEBRATES YOUNG ENTREPRENSURUAL TALENT AT ITS 10TH NATIONAL COMPANY PROGRAM COMPETITION
As part of the programmed, students learned how to set up and run their own business over 15 weeks
INJAZ UAE – a member of Junior Achievement Worldwide (JAW), and part of one of the world’s largest non-profit organizations, INJAZ UAE – crowned Edushop with the Student Company of the Year’ award during its 10th National Company Program Competition.
Hosted in partnership with Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s Dubai Startup Hub initiative, Citi Foundation, Honeywell, and ExxonMobil the competition witnessed over 198 students from four schools – Dubai National School, Al-Twar, Dubai National School, Al-Barsha, Greenwood International School and Dubai International School, Al Quoz – challenge each other and the audience as they competed for the top ‘Student Company of the Year’ Award, ‘Best Social Impact of the Year’ Award and ‘Most Innovative product of the Year’ Award.
In the presence of H.E. Hisham Al Shirawi, 2nd Vice Chairman of Dubai Chamber, 971 team was awarded with the company with the “Best Social Impact of the Year” and Senior It team was awarded the with ‘Most Innovative Product of the Year”.
Sheikh Khaled Al Nahyan, Chairperson of INJAZ UAE said, “This year marks the 10th anniversary of the INJAZ UAE competition and I would like to take this opportunity to celebrate and acknowledge the efforts of our students as well as our partners, volunteers and donors who have relentlessly supported our mission over the past years and continue to believe in our values. ”
Razan Bashiti, Acting CEO, INJAZ UAE, said: “The Company Program is developed to provide high school students the opportunity to live the entrepreneurial experience at a young age. Through this competition, we aim to help student develop critical managerial skills, foster a culture of innovation and unlock essential skills that will help them learn about real-life business processes and challenges in the corporate world.”
Each year, thousands of students across the region take part in INJAZ Al-Arab’s/ JA MENA Company Program – the world’s largest youth entrepreneurial program – where students transform their classrooms into start-ups, over 15 weeks, with the help of corporate mentors and entrepreneurs from the business community. The best students and teams are then shortlisted to compete at the National Company Program Competition scheduled this November year to be held in Oman.
The winners were selected by a judging panel including Christian Lenoble, President, Exxon Al Khaleej, Abu Dhabi Aly Ajani, Corporate Banking Head at Citi; Saif Al Shafar, Chairman of Dubai Entrepreneurs Council; Deema Al-Alami, Vice President at GEMS Education and Katayune Ehsani, Integrity & Compliance Director – MERTA, HONEYWELL
