Hilton likely to be appointed operator for Habtoor City hotel
Al Habtoor Group announced early July that Marriott International will no longer manage or be associated with The St Regis Dubai, W Dubai Habtoor City and The Westin Dubai Al Habtoor City
Hospitality giant Hilton Hotels & Resorts is set to be appointed operator of Habtoor City hotel, Arabian Business understands, taking over from Marriott International, which operates The W Dubai Habtoor City.
Hilton declined to comment when contacted by Arabian Business. A representative for Al Habtoor Group., meanwhile, said the firm will make an announcement this week about its future plans.
Habtoor Group announced on July 10 that Marriott International will no longer manage or be associated with The St Regis Dubai, W Dubai Habtoor City and The Westin Dubai Al Habtoor City starting from the end of July.
Marriott International and Al Habtoor Group both agreed that the hotels will no longer be part of the St Regis, W Hotels and Westin Hotels global brand portfolios.
A statement said the mutual decision was reached amicably between the parties, and that the management of the hotels would be transferred to the owning company.
"The parties are working closely together to ensure a smooth and seamless transition for associates, clients and partners," the statement said.
Khalaf Al Habtoor, chairman of Al Habtoor Group, said at the time: “We maintain a strong and friendly relationship with Marriott International. This decision marks the start of a new era for Habtoor Hospitality as we focus more on strengthening our own brands and expanding our hotel-management portfolio."
