Audi and Volkswagen supply SUVs to Dubai Corporation for Ambulance Services
The vehicles are being used to transport critical equipment, medical supplies and meals to team workers and their families living in the UAE
Audi Volkswagen Middle East has provided several cars to the Dubai Corporation for Ambulance Services (DCAS) to support its effort to fight the Covid-19 pandemic in the emirate.
The fleet of vehicles include the Audi Q3, Q5 and Q8 as well as the Touareg, Teramont, Tiguan and Passat from Volkswagen – all of which are already being used to transport critical equipment, medical supplies and meals to team workers and their families living in the UAE, said a statement from the auto manufacturer.
The use of these cars for supporting the ancillary activities of DCAS and its staff members, means that its ambulances can be dedicated for essential and emergency purposes.
Audi Volkswagen Middle East said that the idea to provide its vehicles came after Dubai Crown Prince Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum launched a volunteering campaign called Your City Needs You…Volunteer for Dubai in March that asked community members to support national efforts to combat the virus and to sign up to do so via the Day for Dubai app.
“It is crucial during times of real adversity, that we come together to face challenges collectively and that is exactly what the launch of ‘Day For Dubai’ has allowed us to do. We feel extremely proud to provide a fleet of cars to the DCAS, assisting them with delivering food and medical supplies without having to use their own ambulances, ensuring these are reserved for crucial, frontline jobs only,” said Jan Bures, managing director of Audi Volkswagen Middle East.
Meanwhile, Khalifa Al-Drai, the executive director of the DCAS, added: “This is a great example of a company standing side by side to support the safety and wellbeing of fellow members of society. Indeed, the true spirit of the UAE and its people is evident during these exceptional times. These difficult situations cannot compromise the determination that everyone in the UAE holds and it’s vital that everyone follows official direction from our authorities who selflessly strive to provide the highest levels of security, health and safety for us all.”
In a related development, on April 19, UAE-based on-demand fuel delivery service Cafu said that it would offer free fuel to employees working at Dubai Health Authority (DHA).
Cafu is collaborating with the DHA to offer free fuel to 640 of its employees to ease the burden on frontline workers who are combating the spread of the pandemic.
