Continuous intertribal collisions forced Arabians to unite, creating some kind of military blocks. Some similar unions totaled tens of thousands of soldiers, for example, the confederation of an azan could expose 60 thousand soldiers. Among them there was an association Bani-Yas which included more than 15 Yemen tribes numbering about 15 thousand men. Bani-Yas's tribes didn't concern to the rich: they had only 180 horses and 400 camels. The Yemen sheikh Muhammad Yasi who is mentioned in manuscripts of the middle of 16 century is considered the founder Bani-Yas. Bani-Yas is literally translated "Yasi's sons".

As the history, the biggest natural island of the United Arab Emirates narrates, Sir Bani-Yas, was born 5-10 million years ago.

Pioneer settlements on Sir Bani-Yas have appeared in the Bronze age, approximately in the fourth millennium BC. Today 36 archaeological zones some of which will be in the future open for tourists are already revealed. On Sir Bani-Yas nomads have once come from the tribe of Bani-Yas, Abu Dhabi which subsequently has occupied. From the name of the tribe they have formed also the name of the island. At the end of the 19th century there was here a small constant settlement then people have left it, having left on "continent".

In 1971 the desert island was chosen by the first president of the United Arab Emirates, the sheikh Zayd who has opened here the private reserve for endangered species of animals and birds of the region.

Today the island - main and the biggest of group of islands which the state company Abu Dhabi on development of tourism and investments (Tourism Development & Investment Company) has united in the Desert Islands project ("Desert islands"). This grandiose project in several years promises to become the largest direction эко tourism in the region.

In the northeast borders on the Emirates of Dubai and Sharjah, in the east on Oman, in the South and the southwest with Saudi Arabia. It is located on the bank of the Persian Gulf to the northeast from the capital of Abu Dhabi in the neighbourhood with Sharjah. Geographical coordinates: 25 °27' northern latitude, 55 °33' east longitude. Length of the city makes 134 km, width — 35 km.

Unlike other emirates, settles down on the bank of the Gulf of Oman of the Indian Ocean. Fujairah territory was stretched along the gulf more than on 90 kilometers. The considerable part of the territory of Fujairah is occupied by the mountains rising to the coast almost closely.
