THE UAE ARE IN THE LEAD IN THE RATING OF COMPETITIVENESS AMONG THE COUNTRIES OF THE ARAB WORLD
By results of the annual rating of competitiveness the United Arab Emirates continue to be in the lead among the countries of the Arab world.
According to the report on competitiveness of 138 countries of the world from the World Economic Forum 2016-2017, the UAE were the leader in the Arab world again, having overcome one line item in comparison with result of last year.
The country took the 16th place while Qatar appeared on the 18th, Saudi Arabia — on the 29th. Both Arab countries from top-30 lost four line items in a year.
"Fall of the prices of energy resources increased relevance of a subject of competitiveness in the Arab world. There is an obvious need for all exporting countries of energy resources in further diversification of the economies" — it is said in the report.
The eighth year in a row the economy of Switzerland allows the country to head rating, having left behind Singapore, the USA, the Netherlands and Germany.
In the report it is noted that the UAE have a number of competitive advantages. For example, from the point of view of infrastructure the country takes the fourth place in the general world ranking. Now the UAE also take the 29th place in the field of use of information and communication technologies.
