Gitex to see global technology gurus addressing new technological advancements
Gitex Technology Week opens today with a focus on emerging technologies from startups at the co-located event, Gitex Future Stars.
The five-day show will also see global technology gurus addressing the gathering on the new technological advancements and also give a peek in to the future of technology to the attendees.
The event will see attendance of more than 4,100 exhibitors, with companies from Finland, Georgia, Guatemala, Luxembourg and Syria exhibiting for the first time.
The Vertical Days Conferences at the exhibition will include over 126 speakers, 230 sessions with experts from eight key industry verticals featuring experts from across health, retail, smart cities, finance, transport and logistics, education and digital marketing. Among the key speakers will be an address by Amazon.com's chief technology officer Dr Werner Vogels.
Entering its second edition, Gitex Future Stars is set to be the biggest-ever confluence of the global startup ecosystem. The startup show has grown over 65 per cent since its launch last year. It will see the latest in emerging technology from 700 startups that may be scouted by one of the 250 venture capitalists and investors attending the event. Area 2071, an ecosystem to design the future, will bring together government, creative individuals, innovative companies and people from all walks of life to create solutions to the world's most pressing issues, will be showcased at Gitex Technology Week.
Future Stars will give the young a chance to be first-movers, with funding opportunities to springboard their dreams into reality throughout the week, including over Dh1.2 million in cash and prizes across a number of competitions.
Another major highlight will be the showcasing of frontier technologies by global players.

Technology that will continue to elevate future-facing cities and change realities for generations to come will be on showcase at Gitex Future Stars, including a 100 per cent electric flying water taxi from French startup Seabubbles.
