New exec hired to control spending at Dubai's Careem
Ashish Jain is appointed to oversee the company's long-term strategic and financial planning
Dubai-based ride-hailing app Careem on Monday announced the appointment of a new senior executive to oversee the company's long-term strategic and financial planning.
Ashish Jain has been hired as VP of Strategic Finance and will bring significant experience in finance, strategy and operations, Careem said in a statement.
It added that he will lead a team responsible for capital allocation across existing and new businesses and controlling spending across the markets that Careem operates in.
Jain joins Careem from Snapdeal, one of India’s largest ecommerce companies, where he was senior vice president, overseeing financial planning and analysis, business finance, legal, treasury, company secretarial, investor relations and fundraising.
“I am delighted to join the Careem family. I am excited by the future plans that the company has in store as Careem has achieved amazing progress in such a short time and I think that’s a testament to the impressive team the company has assembled. I’m looking forward to working closely with the team to drive more growth and profitability across the markets,” he said.
Prior to Snapdeal, Ashish was an associate partner at McKinsey in Singapore, covering Telecom, Media and Technology in South East Asia while also having extensive experience in investment banking and marketing across London, Mumbai and Silicon Valley.
