IN ABU DHABI THE TERM OF THE MATERNITY LEAVE IS OFFICIALLY PROLONGED
Public servants in Abu Dhabi will receive additional month of a maternity leave.
Its Highness the sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahayan, the president of the UAE, adopted the new law prolonging the term of a maternity leave for government employees in Abu Dhabi for a month. Fathers will also receive three vacation days on child care.
Thus, the new law grants to women the right for three months of a paid leave, and also permits them two hours a day within a year to spend for care of newborns.
The previous law provided only two months of a maternity leave and one hour a day on care of children.
The new law also obliges state bodies to hire physically disabled people and to provide them with suitable workplaces.
At the same time employees in Dubai insist on that private companies increased duration of a maternity leave from these 45 days. One private company, Omnicom Media Group MENA, took a similar step not so long ago, having provided to employees of 90 paid vacation days.
